According to police reports, the case unfolded in July of twenty twenty-five when former students reported receiving inappropriate text messages from their former teacher.
The investigation revealed that Marcotte had allegedly sent messages to students describing them as "cute" and saying they "looked good." Most concerning, authorities say he made comments to a fourteen-year-old current student, calling her "babe" and telling her he loved and missed her. Deputies characterized these communications as "grooming" conversations.
When confronted by the school superintendent about these allegations, Marcotte reportedly admitted to sending the messages and cited a drinking problem as the cause. The superintendent immediately contacted law enforcement, with one official praising the school's quick response: "The best example I can see of a school getting to us literally within minutes. As a matter of fact, the superintendent called me directly within minutes of his knowledge of the possibility of this incident."
A search warrant executed on Marcotte's cell phone uncovered over forty disturbing images of young women and girls in compromising positions. Investigators noted that some of these images appeared to be artificially generated. One law enforcement official commented on this troubling trend: "Somebody might have the idea that this AI-generated stuff doesn't have a true victim. It gets just a little disturbing when you see where these people's minds are at."
Marcotte had already resigned from his position before the start of the current school year. Authorities believe their swift action prevented further incidents, with one investigator stating: "I mean, it's my belief that we got a predator out of a school."
