Welcome to Arrest Stories. A thirty-three-year-old man stands accused of using dating apps to deceive victims into meeting him at remote locations before allegedly trapping them in his vehicle and preventing their escape. Here's what may have happened.
On August thirty-first, Larimer County authorities arrested Anthony Brown-Wright following a disturbing pattern of alleged predatory behavior that began over a week earlier. According to police reports, Brown-Wright allegedly used dating applications to catfish unsuspecting victims by misrepresenting his identity as a woman.
The timeline of events began on August twenty-second when the first incident occurred at Simpson Ponds south of Loveland. Investigators say Brown-Wright arranged to meet victims at isolated locations including Douglas Reservoir north of Fort Collins, driving a white GMC Yukon. When victims arrived expecting to meet someone matching a completely different description, they found themselves in a dangerous situation.
Police reports detail how Brown-Wright allegedly refused to let victims exit his vehicle once they realized they had been deceived. During one encounter at Douglas Reservoir on August thirty-first, a victim attempted to call nine-one-one, but Brown-Wright allegedly hung up the phone. Authorities received the hangup call, which helped lead to his arrest that same day.
According to officials, when one victim fought back and managed to escape the vehicle, Brown-Wright allegedly "threatened to press charges against the victim for fighting him, then asked for sexual acts in lieu of calling police." Another report states "The suspect became violent and prevented the victim from leaving, but the victim fought back and was able to exit the vehicle."
Law enforcement emphasized the importance of coming forward, with one official stating, "We understand how someone might feel uncomfortable reporting an incident like this, and I really want to thank the two people who came forward. We're not here to judge. We're here to support you and keep our community safe."
Brown-Wright faces charges of third-degree assault and false imprisonment. He was held on a twenty-five-thousand-dollar cash surety bond. Authorities believe there may be additional victims.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
