DEVIN JOHNSON FLEES COPS AFTER WOMAN FOUND DEAD BY DAUGHTER

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty-eight-year-old Cape Coral man led police on a dramatic multi-county chase after allegedly murdering his mother in her home on Jacaranda Parkway West. Here's what may have happened.

On Tuesday afternoon, Devin Johnson was spotted driving a Toyota Camry south on U.S. Forty-One, sparking a high-speed pursuit that would span from Cape Coral into Collier County. What deputies didn't know at the time was that Johnson was fleeing from a horrific crime scene where his mother, Rosemary Johnson, lay dead with multiple stab wounds.

The chase intensified as a Collier County deputy deployed stop sticks along Tamiami Trail North. Johnson's vehicle struck the devices, but he refused to surrender. In a bizarre turn of events, Johnson suddenly stopped his car, exited the vehicle, and picked up an unknown item from the road in front of his car before jumping back in and continuing his escape.

Johnson made an illegal turn into Riverchase Plaza, desperately trying to evade capture. He eventually abandoned his damaged Toyota behind a grocery store and fled on foot into nearby woods and a residential neighborhood. Law enforcement from multiple agencies coordinated to apprehend the suspect.

Meanwhile, back in Cape Coral, Johnson's siblings had made a devastating discovery. Unable to reach their mother, they went to her home on Jacaranda Parkway West. Following bloody footprints, they found Rosemary Johnson's body. Officials described the crime scene as extensive, with the victim having suffered a significant number of stab wounds.

The family's pain runs deep, with one sibling stating, "During this incredibly difficult time, we kindly ask for privacy and prayers as we navigate through this unimaginable loss. The person responsible for this vicious act, I am committed to pursuing the highest form of justice for what has been done."

Investigators discovered evidence suggesting Johnson had planned to flee the country, including flight screenshots to Costa Rica found in his phone gallery.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
