Daniel Fazio was serving as an assistant coach for the New Milford Bulls seven-year-old age group when the incident unfolded during a game against the Water-Oak Youth Football Team at New Milford High School. According to police reports, Fazio allegedly pushed the young player to the ground after a play concluded on the field.
The confrontation occurred in front of players, coaches, and families who had gathered to watch what should have been a routine youth football game. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident, but the alleged actions quickly drew the attention of law enforcement.
Fazio now faces serious charges including disorderly conduct, risk of injury to a child, and second degree breach of peace. He was released on twenty thousand dollars bond and is scheduled to appear at Torrington Superior Court on October second.
The New Milford Bulls organization moved swiftly to distance themselves from their former assistant coach. In an official statement, the team declared they "do not condone the recent behavior displayed by our former assistant coach. The behavior of the individual is not representative of the sentiments, moral compass, or values of the entirety of the program."
The organization emphasized their commitment to maintaining high standards, stating "We have always and will continue to hold all of our volunteers and representatives to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off the field. As a program, our core values and mission will continue to reflect sportsmanship and integrity."
The team confirmed Fazio is no longer coaching and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement "in accordance with our New Milford Bulls Board Bylaws and Code of Conduct."
